oscar's life

It's been a rough week. Christian and I started school and Oscar got a bad ear infection. My classes are early in the morning from 9-1, pretty much at the same time as Oscar's. Christian's are in the afternoon from 3-6. Complutense (the university) is about 45 minutes away on the metro, with two transfers and sardine-packed cars in the morning. It's pretty hectic and extremely tiring right now, but I'm sure things will get easier in a few weeks.

Oscar talks about school a lot. The kids who sit at his little table (according to him) are Wendy, Aurora, and Lucas. Apparently, he and Aurora are going through some power struggles, while he and Lucas like to play soccer (futbol) out on the patio (the little interior courtyard where kids go out to play). He has been more aggressive than we would like lately and has gotten called on it at school.

When someone does something "bad," they have to have a little dialog where the kid who was wronged says "no me gusta" (I don't like that) and the offender apologizes and acknowledges this and they work it out. Next week, I think we'll try to talk to the teacher (SeƱora Rosa) to see how he's doing. So far she just says "poco a poco" (little by little). He's one of the youngest kids in his class, but she says he doesn't let the older kids push him around.

In other news, he's been doing a little bodily exploration lately and declared while sitting on the potty "Tengo un agujero" (translation: I've got a hole). I didn't realize that this had escaped his notice before, but he's been very excited about the discovery and likes to tell everyone about it.
