We've all been sick this week...seems like everyone I know is fighting off the same thing. It's been pretty rough getting everything done that needs to get done. The good news is that the weather has finally gotten better. The sun came out yesterday and it was warm enough for us to take Oscar to the park (Kalorama). He had fun on the swings and playing on the slide with the older kids. He really has been cooped up too much these past few months. His new word is "aqui" ("here" in Spanish). He says "aqui, aqui" when he wants to give us something.
He understands a lot now. Bett got him three furry little birds (a yellow finch, cardinal, and chickadee) that go in a big furry nest. When you squeeze them, they sing their actual bird song. Oscar loves them. And we have a ritual of putting them back in their nest every night. I tell him "los pajaros viven en el nido" and he runs around and picks them up and puts them in the nest. Sometimes he even puts his ducky in there, too--not sure how he figured that out...
