We're back from Mexico. It was a great trip--fiestas, mariachis, birthdays, presents, beautiful weather and scenery... I think the whole experience really kickstarted Oscar's already burgeoning perspective on the world. He learned to say "hola," got to swim in a hot springs with waterfalls, got bitten by a bee, met lots of interesting people, and--best of all--got to spend lots of quality time with his grandparents, Bett and Dixon. We're going to write more and add photos soon.
Yesterday we had a nice day lounging around the house and recuperating. In the afternoon, we all got bundled up (it's a very cold 32 degrees here!) and walked over to Adams Morgan. On the way over, we ran into one of Oscar's friends from the park--Isabelle. We all ended up going over to the Diner to watch their Tuesday afternoon kids movie. Actually, Isabelle watched the movie and Oscar watched her watch the movie. They shared some crackers and bananas and had a nice time pointing at each other (luckily, Oscar doesn't seem to have been too traumatized by the bee experience).
Today it snowed and we all got bundled up and went to play in the yard. Christian shoveled our walk while Oscar and I watched all of the neighborhood kids have a snowball fight across 13th Street.
